Energetic healing uses the intentions of the human mind to overcome illness. Energetic healing is being promoted as a 21st century alternative modality, but it is actually ancient, having its roots in Native American Indian, Central & South American Shamanism, Hawaian, Tibetan, and Chinese cultures, to name a few. Although it can incorporate traditional methods of healing like Western medicine, its purpose serves to free one's mind to Self-direct (that's Self with a Capital S) the healing process through the subconscious mind. But the first step is an acceptance that there is a distortion in our thinking process and subsequently an imbalance has developed. Also this imbalance may not necessarily be one that we are consciously aware of and the disease may constitute a subtle but rigid thought pattern.
One of many facets of energetic healing is to somehow influence the subconscious or what is also known as the unconscious mind, which is, according to psychology, the subtlest part of the mind. According to psychology the unconscious mind influences our behavior and experience, even though we are unaware of these underlying influences. There are many other ways to influence the healing process. Herbal medicine, spirituality, meditation, positive thinking and prayer are also some. Another important concept to understand is that the practitioner is not the healer per se. We are naturally our own healer and we can learn to heal through external guidance and most importantly, from our inner Self as well. Some call the self - God, Spirit, or Soul or names like Jah, Christ, Krishna, Allah, Adonai. There are many names for the same universal energetic principle. It may have a personal religious label as well as an impersonal nature. But we are talking about the same thing. The idea is to get in touch with that part of our Self that is beyond the unconscious known as superconsciousness. And, according to all religious and spiritual beliefs - that is the purpose for everyone on Earth, ill or not.
